Subject: Starting off the new year

We're back. Happy New Year.

We're going to start off slowly today, giving ourselves and all of you a chance to ease back into the swing of things. But we did want to tell you that . . .

We achieved our capital fundraising goal!

Assuming that everyone who made commitments fulfills them we now have ALL of our basic operating expenses covered for ALL of 2009!

That means we're going to be able to do a lot of new things this year. We're going to be able to . . .

* Do more outreach
* Tell more people about things like the "Read the Bills Act," the "One Subject at a Time Act," and "The Downsize DC Vision"
* Create new tools for you to use
* Recruit more people much faster so that our Downsize DC Army grows, and grows, and grows
* Apply ever-increasing pressure on Congress

It could not come at a better time. We are in the midst the greatest expansion of government in the history of the Republic. We need more hands on deck to fight this. We must tell the politicians that they do not have our consent!

So get ready. It's going to be a big year. There's a lot to do, starting tomorrow.

In the meantime, if you were waiting to see if we made our fundraising goal before you pitched in, the time has come. From this point forward every additional contribution is going to be focused, almost entirely, on outreach and recruitment, until we reach a size where we can communicate with everyone, everywhere, every day.
