Quote of the Day:

“True, governments can reduce the rate of interest in the short run. They can issue additional paper money. They can open the way to credit expansion by the banks. They can thus create an artificial boom and the appearance of prosperity. But such a boom is bound to collapse soon or late.”
-- Ludwig von Mises (HT: Matt Kibbe)

Subject: Responsible people get the shaft

Do you pay your mortgage and other bills on time? Did you buy a house during the boom? If so, you're about to get the shaft. You're house is probably worth less than you paid for it, and it will take a lot of payments to get yourself back in the black.

You're the person paying the cost for the government-caused housing bubble, and no one is going to bail you out.

All the people who made mistakes, all the people who were irresponsible, will be rewarded for their irresponsibility, in one way or another. But . . .

Every responsible person will be punished, precisely because they have behaved responsibly, precisely because they pay their bills.

This is how government works. This is what government does. It rewards irresponsibility, and thereby creates an irresponsible society.

We can dispense with the technical details of the current mess. It all boils down to this -- irresponsible people are rewarded, while responsible people get the shaft.

All the corporate welfare queens have clamored incessantly to be rescued at your expense. And the drama queens in the media, who love crisis, have propagandized and sown fear around the clock, bringing us to a point where it appears likely the Big Bailout bill will pass in the House today.

You can take your punishment lying down, or you can rage against the injustice. To remain silent is to sanction the crime. We recommend rage. Blast Congress with another message. We regret that we don't have a tailor-made campaign you can use for this purpose. Things moved too fast for us to prepare one. So please continue to use our generic "cut spending" campaign to send your message. Use your personal comments to express your rage and continued opposition. You can send your message here.

Please also register for a Digg account and then Digg this message on our blog, so many more people will see it. Forward this message to others.

And prepare to fight again another day, with a larger army, and a bigger voice. You can contribute toward that end. We need your financial support to grow. You can contribute here.

Do not mourn. Fight. And thank you for being a part of the growing Downsize DC army.

Right on, Perry!

I've done as you suggested (before you suggested it, actually) and contacted Sen. Feingold and thanked him for voting against the bailout, and contacted Sen. Kohl and Rep. Moore who voted for the bailout.

I told those two that they represented billionaire bankers and Wall Street traders, not their constituents, and that their vote FOR the bailout means they should never expect me to vote FOR them - ever!

And, I "dugg" you too!

Today fascism came to our once proud Republic. And with economic fascism comes police state tactics. One follows the other as surely as thunder follows lightening!

Hold on to your wallet & your liberties. They're coming for both!

Keep up the great work at DownsizeDC.org!
