Today's Downsizer Dispatch . . . Subject: Good news, plus radio show A DOWNSIZE DC VICTORY! The Senate immigration bill is dead. That also means that the REAL ID background checks provisions we were fighting are also dead. For now. But rust never sleeps, and neither do bad ideas in the halls of Congress. So you can expect them to return at some point. Meanwhile, a lot of people fought this bill for a lot of different reasons, some good and some bad. Thank you for the role you played. This was one of our biggest campaigns to date. Downsizers bombarded Congress with 14,154 messages over a period of just a few days. Thank you! We have other good news in the offing. The legal work for the "One Subject at a Time Act" is very nearly done, and we had raised nearly enough in monthly pledges to release it, but then we lost our second-biggest monthly pledger ($200) because of a personal reverse of fortune. We need to try to make up that $200 a month soon, but we're going to set a deadline. Whatever we raise by next Friday, we're going to go ahead and release the bill -- probably in July. That means, if you want your name on the website roster for this bill, time is running out. The minimum contribution to be listed is a $5 monthly pledge or a $60 one time contribution. Contribute more if you can because the names will be listed by the size of the contribution. You can contribute here. Next item: We're going to be releasing a major new campaign next week aimed at making government accountable for its massive failures leading up to 9-11. My guest will be the producer of an important new documentary on this subject. And I'll be discussing and DEBUTING this campaign on my Sunday radio show. Please tune in. Finally, I'm on the Jerry Hughes show again today, in about an hour. Please help us out by emailing or calling in questions. Here's the info . . . The toll-free call-in number is: 1-866-222-2368 The email is: Jerry at AccentRadio dot com Time: 3:00 PM Eastern, 2:00 PM Central, 1:00 PM Mountain, Noon Pacific Length: 1 hour Host: Jerry Hughes Show: Straight Talk w/ Jerry Hughes Internet: www.accentradionetwork.com/chooseplayer.htm Click Winamp or Windows Media Player, as appropriate. You can listen to the show in more than 20 markets. A complete list of "affiliates" is available here. Thanks for being a DC Downsizer. Jim Babka President DownsizeDC.org, Inc.
