We've seen it before. It's happening again. Congress is about to leave town and they're doing more damage. The Senate passed a bill we've been fighting. We'll tell you more in just a moment.
But there's lots to cover today. In this message . . .
* We'll tell you about DownsizeDC.org President Jim Babka's regular Friday interview on Straight Talk w/ Jerry Hughes.
* We'll share another action item from our friends at Free Talk Live.
* On top of that, we'll preview Jim Babka's Sunday radio show, which will feature guest Richard Maybury.
But first, we must take action now, because our vitamins and supplements are under attack . . .
VERY URGENT ACTION ITEM
Our friends at Life Extension sent out the following bulletin yesterday . . .
"The Dietary Supplement and Non-Prescription Drug Consumer Protection Act (the AER bill), which threatens your access to dietary supplements, was passed in the U.S. Senate at 9 pm Wednesday, December 6. Now we must take immediate action to stop the companion bill (HR 6168) in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"We urge you to
click on this link now to find out more about this vitally important issue and to exercise your constitutional right to let your voice be heard."
And to Life Extension's words we add, Congress is most dangerous when they're on their way out the door. As we understand it right now, Congress will stay an extra day -- working Saturday. Then they will leave (finally). We must be vigilent.
Sending a message is important -- a priority. But given that this is Friday and Congress is on their way out of town, time is short. So we recommend that you also call your House Representative as well. When you
login to our system, their contact information, including phone number, is there. Remember, please be brief and polite. I find it helpful to write out my sentence or two before I call, and I always remember to tell them what my name and city are so that they know they're hearing from a constituent. Please act now, or expect your vitamins and supplements to go up in price.

FREE TALK LIVE
From host Ian Bernard, a fellow DC Downsizer, comes the following message . . .
The good news: Free Talk Live pulled in a record number of votes last month, thanks to your votes. As a result, we finished the month as the world's #3 podcast.
The bad news: We couldn't beat the Harry Potter podcasts.
Yes, people talking about Harry Potter is still more popular than people talking about Liberty and Downsize DC. But not by much. If you voted last month, thank you. We're asking you to do it again now:

Jim Babka's Sunday radio show features a special guest in tribute to a special young man.
Richard Maybury, publisher of Richard Maybury's Early Warning Reports and author of the Uncle Eric series, will be the guest for the entire hour. Mr. Maybury was one of Harry Browne's two favorite newsletter writers. Sunday, you'll learn why.
Maybury's newsletter is primarily of interest to investors who want to know how the actions of governments around the world are going to impact their portfolios -- from monetary systems to war.
Start thinking of your questions now. You can call 1-800-259-9231 or email the host during the program at call at downsizedc dot org.
This program is being done in tribute to Jack I. Mullen III, or as his friends and family called him, "Jackie," son of Downsize DC Foundation Chair Jack Mullen. Plagued with a serious mental illness, Jackie took his life just days before Thanksgiving. He was 22 years old.
Jackie was a fan of Downsize DC, but Richard Maybury was his favorite writer. Jim Babka will share a some of Jackie's story during the program.
And, as always, there will be updates from the show's other sponsors; Gun Owners of America and the Marijuana Policy Project.
The program airs at 4:06 PM Eastern (3:06 PM Central, 2:06 PM Mountain, and 1:06 PM Pacific) and can be heard at

Last but not least, we added one new monthly credit card pledger yesterday. But we'd like to cross the $6,000 per month level of giving. That would require roughly another $150 in monthly pledges. Pledge levels start at just $3.
Would you consider making a monthly pledge? With folks caught up in preparations for Christmas, Kwaanza, Hanukkah, and Festivus, from shopping, to parties, to children's programs, and more, December is one of our two most challenging months for fundraising. We still need to raise more than $8,000 this month to meet our budget. Will we succeed? You can help. Big Government grows even as holidays approach.
Please consider making a generous contribution to Downsize DC today. And if getting one more year end tax deduction is important to you, please direct your contribution or monthly pledge to the Downsize DC Foundation
HERE.
